I took this photo in Earby, which is a town in Lancashire. |
Behind a chain-link fence
— Of light-blue diamonds -
Branches, clothed in velvet moss,
Squirm, twist and turn
As they reach out for life.
The moss is alive -
Alive with luminescent green.
And, with stars on its surface,
The winter water’s shining
Beckons beyond the silver-blue links.
What we have is life.
It’s where all grows, thrives.
The soul of an uncontrolled scene.
Things go on. Nothing stops.
Parts incubate. Yet things still move.
The moss — foreverbeautiful green.
Yes; life is there.
And I am here.
I’m behind a chain-link fence.
The Council keeps me out.
Keeps me safe from threat.
In 2021, risk is a bad thing.
We simply must be protected…
From every bleeding heart.
Protected from life itself.
Do not breath, lest you ingest air.
Do not walk, lest you fall.
You shall live with our permanent care.
The Council will not fail.
Thou shall not enter this swamp.
