Thoughts on Insects in a Glass Jar
Insects travel up, then down, the glass jar.
This glass is their world now.
A world of poor air and dead spaghetti -
Nothing more and nothing less.
This is enough for these tiny beings -
All brought to life by a neat molecule mix.
These bugs - these specks of organic dust -
Are structured machines
That move to genetic purpose.
Finely-programmed purpose.
They move to the tune of mindless DNA.
Obey their genes - that’s what they do.
